Allen Blakey
A graduate of Davidson College, Allen Blakey is Director of Public Affairs for the Vinyl Institute, which represents manufacturers of vinyl plastic. Since 1983, he has practiced public relations and communications in Washington for industry associations, companies, nonprofits, and others. For seven years before going into public affairs, he was a specialized reporter covering medical and environmental news.
Allen became interested in the Bowen Center through his stepmother, a psychiatric nurse who practiced Bowen theory, and his father, a psychiatrist.
Nancy Harter
Nancy Harters professional and volunteer work have centered on working for the general improvement and functioning of individuals, families, and organizations.
She has degrees in Child Development, Human Development, and a Masters in Education. She has worked with individuals of all ages, with diverse constituencies, in schools and with nonprofits, government agencies, community groups, businesses, boards of trustees and advisory councils.
Spanning forty years of professional work, she has worked with ill children at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital, directed a nursery school, taught graduate courses for teachers at Trinity College, founded and directed the office of consumer affairs for Youth for Understanding International Exchange. This office handled major problems and resolved major disputes for 6,500 students in 42 countries. She is a consultant in program design, development and long-range planning to Have Justice Will Travel, a nonprofit for abused women and children. Since 1997 she has been a vice chair of the Ombuds Committee of the Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice of the American Bar Association. She has read widely in Bowen theory, attended conferences and lectures put on by the Bowen Center, and also by Edwin Friedman and the Center for Family Process. Bowen theory permeates her work, service, and personal life.
Bradley J. Snyder
A graduate of The Citadel, Brad Snyder is a retired captain in the US Army. For his service in Vietnam, he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantry Badge. Upon his retirement in 1966, he was employed by the Army and Air Force Mutual Aid Association. In April 1987 he was appointed their president.
In June 2000, he became the President and CEO of the Armed Forces Services Corporation. He is currently serving as Director of the National Association of Uniformed Services.
He has given numerous talks and written a number of articles on the integration of Social Security with the military Survivor Benefit Plan. He serves on the Finance Committee of the Army Historical Foundation and has been appointed to the Board of Advisors of the National Military Family Association.
Cecile A. Whitehead
Cecile Whitehead is the President and Founder of Accurate Solutions, a company she established twenty-five years ago when she saw the need for small to midsize organizations to have timely financial statements customized to their particular needs.
Accurate Solutions has been providing comprehensive accounting services to multiple small businesses and nonprofits ever since. She provides her clients with custom designed financial statements, invoicing, accounts receivable and payable, budgeting and financial forecasting.
Cecile has been a student in Bowen family systems theory for more than two decades.
