Spring Conference
Stress and Relationship Systems

April 21-22, 2001

Please note: The complete videotapes from this conference are no longer available. Tapes 1-3 are currently offered for sale. The entire converence is available in an audiotape set, which is also listed on this page.

Bowen theory offers a framework that accounts for individual variation in reactivity to stress. Individual stress reactivity is conceptualized as a relationship phenomenon, where the relevant relationship system is the multigenerational family.

This conference examines how social relationship factors contribute to shaping individual variation in stress response. An interdisciplinary group of speakers explore the connection between social relationships and stress responses, from molecular to group levels, in humans and other forms of life. Clinicians who treat individuals with stress-related symptoms will find the discussion of fixed and modifiable social factors useful.
