Kathleen Cotter Cauley, MEd, LMFT, is in private practice in Falls Church, Virginia. She is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Florida, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Ms. Cauley worked with Catholic Charities in Pittsburgh from 1972 until 1985 as an adoption caseworker, therapist, and deputy director of a branch office. Ms. Cauley received her master’s degree in Counselor Education at the University of Pittsburgh in 1977. In 1980, while working at Catholic Charities, she sought out a supervisor who had trained at the Bowen Center. Ms. Cauley attended the training program at the Western Pennsylvania Family Center.

Ms. Cauley was in private practice in Tampa, Florida from 1985 until 2001 and still returns to work in Tampa three weeks each year. She was involved in founding the Florida Family Research Network with other Bowen colleagues and serves on their Advisory Board. In addition to her private practice, she has been on the faculty of the Extraordinary Leadership Seminars since 2003.

She volunteers on review boards dealing with the sex abuse scandals of the Catholic Church for the Dioceses of Saint Petersburg, FL and the Jesuit Maryland Province.

Ms. Cauley has volunteered for Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. since 1990. Her current dog is an ambassador for the blind and does pet therapy at Capital Caring (Hospice) and public relations for the Paws for Patriots Program. His name is Spirit and, on occasion, he is present at the Bowen Center.
